I ran across this, listed at $350, and thought it was quite a sweet watch with the Eterna 1158H movement 'recently serviced' 馃. I was tempted to nab it as my first Eterna, but thought best to ask the crew first... @ulackfocus @Northernman @citizenrich :

Oh, yeah, nicely placed hour hand to make it less noticeable...

Wondering, I suppose the watches from the 40's, like this one, were mostly 'hand-painted'? If so, then lettering is never 'perfect', right?

I can see though, that this one has lettering that is much too far off to be considered original; 'AU' of automatic, the five marker, yadda, yadda...

With Eterna, I would try to go for a Chronometer
in the dress style

Got an example? Dress, as in baton indices, maybe?

Here what an original Eterna bumper dial should look like:

Hope this helps,

Thanks!

You just missed a beautiful 18k dress on ebay. I lost to another bidder and was left wondering what his / her top price was.

This watch had a single issue which didn't bother me at all. There was ding in the original dial which generally disqualifies a watch from any serious collector.

Even though I probably have 100++ watches, I never kid myself that I'm a collector. That requires a certain discipline which I sorely lack and I'm not even sure that's a bad thing lol

I couldn't tell if the crown was original (Eterna always uses their 5 ball bearing trademark, always). Not a big deal if it was a replacement - they're easy to source. The pics are a little overexposed...usually a red flag, right?

This watch was a total score for 500 bucks - I regret not putting down a higher bid. This is a thousand dollar watch , all day long, even with serious collector disqualifying dent...

Hello, recently joined. Owner of that website is also a seller of watches, is he reliable? Any good?

Thanks,

Tristan
Sorry Tristan, I've never dealt with
Him. Just used the site as a reference.

I bought a watch from him about a year ago.
Peter is a nice person to deal with, all his watches are serviced and mine was in a excellent mint condition.
If I remember well, payment are only via bank wire
