路Nice.
Have to say I'm not a huge fan of that period: similarly the Kirium watches: mainly because I don't like the "melted" appearance. It's almost like TAG were throwing comments about what life would be like after the Atomic wars.....
Well - it didn't take long for that comment to come back and bite me.... 馃槈
Crossed paths with a 2nd-hand watch collector/seller last weekend at a crafts market (if you're on here, hello!), and found myself the lucky recipient of an offer that I couldn't refuse.
Here's the "unboxing" for your delectation....
Unfortunately the original top of the box is AWOL (punishments will be militarily severe it if ever returns to barracks)
The leatherette case has suffered over the years... (there's a bit of a hint there)
All the booklets....
Anyone got a clue yet? 馃槈
Original purchase receipts...
And the cards!
The grand reveal (although eagle-eyed readers will already know it's something good (and ironic!))
WL5114-BA0701 Kirium Chronometer Automatic.
All the spare links are included:
and, to me, they look genuine.
Looks lovely in the photos.
It's a little "aged" : the bracelet and bezel are both showing scratches all over, which I know will affect value for others, but it doesn't both me. I believe objects that are designed to be used should be used and to me the scratches are history and experiences.
Oddly - and this caused me some concern over the past week (I've been on holiday in Turkey, without the watch), while I've been researching the model, the colour on the dial is far more "coppery" in photos than it is in real life. To me, the dial looks "Salmon pink", but it is beautiful when the light hits it right.
I've also been looking at values and the current value for something like this appears to be around 拢350-拢450 depending on condition - HOWEVER: that estimation never seems to include any clarification on whether or not it takes into account original accoutrements (box, links, booklets, certificates, receipts etc): so I'm not sure about what I should have paid.
The previously mentioned Offer made to us, was 拢1000 for 2 watches: The WL5114, and the 377.508 Ladies F1 that I introduced you to in the WRUW thread last week. I do wonder if I overpaid somewhat (my responsibility if so), as we were rushing to get out of town and pack for our holiday!
This is another oddity : I think these particular F1s were made in two batches : one with all pink dial/hands/bezel :
(credit to aquagraph for the photo there)
And another with white bezel digits, orange hands, and the pink dial - and I say that because searching the internet for 377.508 brings up a great many photos of that second mix of colours.
I do hope I'm right about that, because it's in lovely condition (one of the best I've seen) and my other half is very happy with it.
For me - the Kirium will take a little getting used to, and may well become my "Dress" watch for special occasions, with the odd wear here and there.
I think I'll be needing another winder though.... that's 4 automatics I now own! 馃ぃ馃檮
