Do I need to tag my TAG Heuer CV2A1R BA0799 to put on my new leather strap?

Hello,

I have the CV2A1R BA0799 which came with the steel bracelet and black leather strap which I've not used before, can I remove the steel one myself and put on the leather one easily (I can't see how) or do I need to take it to the Tag shop?

I hope I can do myself if it's easy.

Thanks

Just need a generic springbar removal tool, easily available online.
You remove the springbars by pressing in one end using the tool through the rectangular cut outs in the bracelet endpieces. Then ease the bracelet out.
When putting the leather strap on... Locate one end of the springbar first in the hole on the lug. Then push the other spring loaded end of the springbar down using the tool and locate it.
Be sure to to give the strap a good tug afterwards to make sure its fully located in the holes on the lug, otherwise your watch can end up on the floor!

Thank you. Would something like this be good for this job?

No problem.
Yes that's fine and a good choice,Bergeon make excellent tools.
Basically use the forked section of the tool to pull down one side of the springbar and wiggle the bracelet a little. That way when you release the tool the springbar won't just pop back in the hole again. You may then need to do the same thing on the other end of the springbar, depends how tight the tolerances are on the endpieces.
It's quite simple to do but difficult to explain if that makes sense !

Thanks. I just realised the title of my post makes no sense so thanks for sticking in there. Should have been "Do I need to take my Tag....."

One other question. I got this watch 2nd hand and it's been verified independently as being genuine. It originally came with the black leather strap which I want to put back on it, but it also came with a new Tag steel bracelet which you can see in the photo, but what annoys me is the area highlighted which isn't flush like I see in other photos of this watch. The rest of the Tag steel bracelet looks fine, it's just where it joins the watch. Is it the wrong bracelet for this watch?

No worries !

The endpieces do look a very poor fit to the case, the rest of the bracelet looks correct though. Could be the endpieces were lost and someone has just put something on to the original bracelet that sort of fits !

Can I purchase those end pieces separately?

Would photo from underneath help with regards to the fitting?

Pop up a photo of the underside. Those endpieces look hollow rather than solid in your photo.
You could probably source them from TH if yours are incorrect.

Let me know if this isn’t the best photo. I mean it’s probably just fine, but it bugs me a little bit.

They are solid endpieces but I don't think they are correct, too short and too shallow.
Either the wrong bracelet or someone has swapped the endpieces.
Any part code on the bracelet?

Yeah,it's a Carrera bracelet but not for your Carrera !
It's the type fitted on a CBN2A1A.

Interesting!

So could I get the correct end pieces to fit do you think or is it a completely different bracelet I’d need? I’ll probably use the leather one, but nice to get this sorted too.

I think that's the correct code for yours.
Some correct endpieces may work but it depends on the width of the mid link, would need to be exactly the same.

It’s only a small difference tbh, I might message TAG just to see if it compatible and can have the end parts changed. Otherwise it’s a whole new bracelet which seems a bit over the top I guess.

It came with the black leather bracelet which looks almost unused and the watch itself is in excellent condition and I got such a good deal on it. The steel bracelet seemed to come as an extra.

👍 I wouldn't sweat on it too much,if you do end up wanting the correct one you can always sell the other to recoup costs.

That’s true, I mean it’s hardly noticeable tbh.

I’ll ask Tag if the ends can be purchased and if they would be compatible. There is a Tag shop 10 minutes away.

A new or second hand steel bracelet seems to be about £300-£400!

I have a hunch that the reason it has the wrong end-link is because whoever bought that BA0643 bracelet for it already found out the hard way that its end-link didn't align with the pin holes in the lugs of your watch.

But it doesn't hurt to ask TAG and see what they say.
