Did a "downgrade" to my SMPc. But, I kind of like it.

Bought my SMPc in 2020, and one of the first things I did was buy the OEM micro-adjustment clasp (ref. 117stz001154). Had it for five years that way, and always disliked that I had a long clasp under the wrist. Also, was not a fan of how bulky it was. Yes, it was nice to micro-adjust the clasp throughout the day as my wrist would swell, no doubt.

Decided to "downgrade" the clasp back to the original, non-adjustment clasp. Felt a big relief! Watch is lighter, less bulky, and it feels nice to have a smaller clasp under the wrist. For comparison, here is a side by side of the original, with the 117stz001154 clasp. The latter clasp is a bit thicker, too.

Anyone else a fan of non-adjustable clasps from the older SMP300's? Yes, I know you can't fine tune the bracelet throughout the day, but I love how much lighter and compact the watch feels now.

It's the thickness of the adjustable clasp moreso than the length that's the problem. I have the same issue. I think if you like to wear a bracelet on the loose side then the original clasp is the winner. But I like my bracelet adjusted just right and live in a place where it can be 115 degrees outside (46 celcius) and 72 degrees inside (22 celcius) during the summer so adjustability wins.

In the winter the temperatures are much less extreme so sometimes I put on the original clasp during those months.

Makes sense! Yeah, luckily I live in a city with an average temperature of about 50掳F (10掳C) yearlong. If I had scorching summers, I would probably keep the adjustable clasp as well.

Amen. I do wish we had micro adjust, but the integrated clasp is insanely comfortable. I've gotten used to wearing mine just a bit loose when my wrist is cool so it's not tight when my wrist is hot. The good thing is the half links are less than half so you can really dial the fit in.

I鈥檝e thought multiple time about upgrading my SMPc clasp to the micro adjust, but I just can鈥檛 seem to pull the trigger on it for the reasons you mentioned. The original clasp just looks so much better and perfectly fitted. I think I鈥檒l keep mine as-is. Thanks for sharing.

If you want 2 extra potions of micro-adjustment in a clasp the same length as the original clasp, you can buy this part:

117STZ004666

It doesn't have the fold-out diver's extension, but it has 2 extra positions for when your wrist swells. I've had it on my SMPc ever since I got it years ago and it's been great

Only con is that it adds a tiny bit of bulk compared to the basically flat OEM clasp, but a good compromise nonetheless!
