Gents, may I ask for your thoughts on the dial of this watch please?
I'm unable to detect any signs of a redial. To me it looks like it has oynx markers rather than painted.

its not a great single pic but I don't see any red flags.

The hidden crown pie-pan Constellations do tend have the minute markers right on the edge of the inner plain.
Yes they look like onyx inserts (I don't think i'v ever seen a 168.004 or .010 with painted inserts)

I'm guessing this is a 168.010 given the unusual end links on the BOR to fit the wider lug width.

It's a non Omega bracelet, but yes it's a 168.010.
I'm actually trying to buy a 168.005 with that dial, can't find one with a decent dial and case.

I'm considering buying this, then getting a 168.005 with a decent case and performing surgery.
Yes, I'm aware that's heracy.

Thanks for your input.

Only problem with plan is that, IIRC, the dial sizes are different in the .005 and .010.

Buy the .010 and enjoy it (if you like it and the price is right) - they wear really well on the wrist.

This. Same movements don't necessarily mean interchangability between refs. You could look for 14393s with dials you like, those can indeed be swapped with 168.005s (and 14902s).

A comment, if I may: Those kind of projects rarely lead to a cheaper outcome. 168.005s were produced in significant numbers. Not too difficult to find with a bit of patience, especially at the place where you found that 168.010 above.

I've been on the hunt for a couple of years now. I guess I will just have to wait longer. I'm picky, whilst they are not hard to find, finding an original one without a polished case and without age spots isn't easy.
Thank you both for your help.

I think 14393, 168.005 and 168.010 have different dial sizes and they are NOT interchangeable.
14393 is smallest. 168.005 is the medium and 168.010 is the largest.

You're right, thank you. I've seen the innerts from a 14393 being transplanted into a 14902, but it makes sense that it's possible this way, especially with a relatively wide tension ring on the plexi, covering a possible gap. The other way round wouldn't fit then.
