Sharing what I think is a nice find from the far East. My first curtain dial connie.

Got is a few months back but has been with SimonF for a service. Movement was in good condition just needed a clean and oil.

Case looks real nice to me, still has good facet definition. Dial is showing it's age and from living in humid climates. I don't mind this at all. The jumbo size looks great on the wrist.

Beautiful! I had a Seamaster with a ribbon dial once. Not something one sees every day, and I'd imagine that this, being a Constellation, is much rarer.

Congratulations.
The fact that it’s jumbo is uncommon enough - but with a ‘curtain’ dial too...

Nice to see an extract for a Connie.
👍

Agree, I know some forum members don't value them but I do. I apply giving only movement number so when I get back all the information as shown in this example it is a good check for factory originality.

Nice timepiece. How much did Omega charge you to issue the Extract of the Archives? How long did it take to get it?

36mm and more.
A regular Connie is 34, no? Hard to fathom that an extra 2mm is all it took to be classified as “jumbo”!

I believe standard connie is 34.5mm vs 37mm of the jumbo. Much better wrist presence.

Awesome! Very special looking watch! What drove you to get an extract for it?

As a default I get an extract for all my watches.

That's awesome. Don't mean to hijak your thread about your really beautiful and interesting jumbo Connie... but... What is the most interesting thing you learnt from an extract / what is the most obscure watch you have gotten an extract for?

I just sent out my 168.018 for service, so can’t measure it, but it wears so much bigger than the two pie pan Connies I have. I wonder if it isn’t larger than the pp’s by a millimeter or two?

You never know what extra bit of information can unlock a watches history and bring it alive. Found a black dial connie with BOR bracelet and case in a small rural UK auction house. From the extract I got that it was sent to HK. So through the auction house I asked the seller for if he had a HK connection. I think this got his attention and so I was able to find out he purchased it new while stationed in HK as a UK diplomat in 60/70's. Reading between the lines he was a spy. So, I call this my James Bond Connie.

The round cases Connies are often called ‘jumbo’ in error - although they may be 35mm (?)
They do wear bigger than the doglegs or earlier Connies though as the bezel is slimmer.
(And they come with pie pans too - wearing one of mine at the mo’)

Reviving an old thread, I made the same assumption once

Purchased a grey blue dial C-Case (2 years of looking at all eBay listings 10+ times a day and one of my less than 5 eBay finds) - all original with the bracelet

It was from the daughter of the original owner, she said his father was a US foreign service officer in HK and PH, and he likely picked the watch from one of those places

I directly jumped to the best case scenario and consider it a spy watch as well 😀
