Just got these back from Brian Leiser aka 31jewels.

It will be interesting to see how these keep time.

What was the advantage of the superbeat? Is it basically a because we can watch for Citizen?

Very nice, Citizen made some great watches from that era, going toe to toe with Seiko. Here's a close relative (or competitor 😉) Hi-Beat from the same time period:

They were trying to make the cosc certificationand beat the swiss i think.

About that time the Swiss decided that they didn't want competition from the Japanese that was rapidly overtaking their abilities and they cut the Japanese out of the COsC competition.

Maybe not so odd. It was losing time when sitting
