Didn’t see a thread on these here so thought I’d ask if there was any love on OF for the original jumbo Aquanaut, the 5065. I just picked up this 5065/A-010 (also called the 5065/1A), which is the reference that comes with the crazy trapezoidal bracelet, and it’s a great combination of “firsts” for my collection. It’s my: first Patek, first watch made in this century, first with a display back, and first on a rubber strap.

Excited to have something that feels modern and robust but still has the charm of tritium and the quirks of a first generation watch. Can’t wait to wear the hell out of it this summer.

That dial is gorgeous, especially the lume. Would love to someday know the thinking at Patek to orient the markers on 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 off from the dial center. Your watch's younger sibling says hi.

Nice one, congratz! Can you show some more photos of the bracelet? I always kind of liked the bracelet on these 😁

Agreed -- there are so many quirky choices they made on the dial. The 3 pushed further to the center, the minute lines and the hour plots being at different angles, etc. To me, it's charming, shows that they were really trying to make something new, and all ends up sitting well together when you take a step back..

That was my first PP years ago but finally sold it as I thought it was a bit small on my wrist.
However it is a very nice old good looking Aquanaut !
Congrats !
