Anyone else having issues recently with the Longines extract from archives service?

Made an inquiry to the heritage dept a few days ago, and just got an answer.
and this is a direct quote:

"We thank you for contacting us and for your interest in Longines watches.

We would like to inform you that the conditions for receiving complete historical information about a Longines watch have changed.

We continue to respond to a precise question about Longines watches, but a complete search corresponds to the order of an Extract from the archives at a cost of CHF 120."

So specific, precise questions they seem to answer to a certain extent, as long as they do not need to do a "complete search" it seems.

Still good to know that they do continue to provide information although with some limitations.

Hallo guys, im very sad, you were all right. Today i received response from Longines and they wrote that any information about watches are for fee 120 CHF. They will not send any info by email, only in bought extract. Its a shame that Longines start behave like this, because 120 CHF is too much. Regards,

It is what it is. There are enough websites to date most vintage watches out there so I consider these Extracts as adding very little to the vintage watches ownership experience. Maybe it makes sense for particularly rare pieces, or those of questionable origins.

On one hand, I understand why Longines is now charging for the extract services. They have to pay people to look up this information, printing costs something and so does postage. Maybe not CHF120, but something.

Bottom line is that a lot of the watch companies aren’t making the profits they once did, back when the Chinese economy was booming and they were selling almost everything coming out of the factories at premium prices.

That lost profit has to come from somewhere.
