I saw one in the wild recently and was impressed given that many of these cost as much as a luxury vehicle. Any one out there care to share a photo or two of theirs?

If you're gonna overpay, it better be Cartier.
Very nice looking. Completely unnecessary to have these days but who cares when you collect watches. What’s the deal with getting something like that serviced. I would imagine it’s costly and not something every watch maker can do.

Completely unnecessary, but so deliciously unnecessary.

I'd go for Journes earlier Tourbillons.

Just saw a video describing this Souverain.
Although I'm not too keen on the esthetics of the dial (too many colors, materials and shapes to my taste), it's still a very impressive watch and has everything but the kitchen sink: remontoire, dead-beat seconds, tourbillon, power indicator, fine finishing, elegant case and manageable size.

I had this platinum JLC tourbillon a few years ago, figured I should own at least one in my lifetime. Beautiful watch but it was kind of boring so I sold it. No desire to own another, poor value in my estimation.

You don’t have to overpay.........
It is a great test watch. I am bored by the tourbillion, it is nice no doubt but the excitement wears off. I do not feel the need to invest in a Swiss made one

You're right, Journe prices for early brass stuff has all gone nuts, but currently at the top is the Resonance, after the early one went for 250k at auction. This doesn't make sense to me as the Tourbillon was the flagship of the era and should be on top.

If a Breguet Heritage and a Franck Muller tonneau had a baby, they'd name it Michael.

I've had the tourbillon itch for years... This entered my crosshairs for a few hundred Australian dollars. The crystal was chipped, but for all the flack they get, MH (Australian jewellery chain) has a rigorous post-purchase service policy and stand behind their products. A small outlay in repair costs and I had a new sapphire crystal, case, and serviced movement with a warranty on all their work. I virtually have a brand new tourby for about the equivalent of US$350, or 10 times less than these retailed for when new. I don't wear it too often (it's far too thick to be a dress watch, far too dressy to be a casual watch), but it's fun to strap on from time to time and contemplate human ingenuity. I think the occasion I wear it to most is when I visit high end watch shops; giving the impression I know what I'm talking about has given me countless chances to try on astronomically expensive watches and dream!

Asians welcome?

I'd hope so! My tourbillon and that belonging to sxl2004 are both Chinese. They've been producing tourbillons for a long time now and they've got it down to a pretty fine art. Even under 30x magnification the cage on mine doesn't look too rough.

In that case, here is my hong kong chinese pair.

I love those watches and have had a few of the Millionsmart (The Michael Hill?) ones but it is a pity they wont make one with any less klunky case to surround their often beautiful dials.

Just be careful with the shock absorber, which I am not sure actually does anything. Or maybe it does, it just isn't on the tourbillion cage?

For some reason, they dont come up on the secondhand market very much?

I wonder why they made that blue one to look like an "open heart design"?
