Any Hamilton fans?

Meet a guy in Home Depot who was wearing a Hamilton Rodney.

After telling him nice Hamilton, he told me his story. The watch was his dad's. His dad bought it on consignment when he was 13. His dad worked for the railroad and was supposed to send all his money home, so he bought the watch on the side through a lay away. The son who was quite a bit older now, maybe retired, said the watch didn't keep good time but he wore it as a reminder of his dad. Of course that hurt, as I know it should be accurate, so gave him the name of a watchmaker and told him about HamiltonChronicles.

I don't see many Hamiltons in the wild. Fun time.

Ref 60008-3. I can’t remember who or where I bought it from but it was within the last six months. I’ve tried to figure out the year of this watch or at least the range of years, but using Google and the reference number, nothing came up.

Swiss, so this is not likely to be tracked using Hamilton data bases. I’d say early to mid 1970s.

According to Dan at HamiltonChronicles, "every Hamilton automatic made since 1954 has featured a Swiss-made movement ."

Swiss, so this is not likely to be tracked using Hamilton data bases. I’d say early to mid 1970s.

Looks like a collaboration between Hamilton and Buren. This is an Eta based movement. There are similar movements marked with Buren.

"The original Hamilton Watch Company was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, PA. In 1966, the company acquired the Swiss-based Buren Watch Company. Hamilton made watches in USA until 1969, the same year that operations were moved to Buren facilities in Switzerland. Only 3 years later, in 1972, the Hamilton/Buren partnership was dissolved, which lead to the Hamilton brand being purchased by what eventually became Swatch Group in 1974."

Maybe someone knows more.

That's great, thank you so much, I hadn't thought of using Caliber Corner! Searching the internet on the watch caseback ref number 60008-3 turned up nothing so far, which in a way surprises me.
