Hello all members 😀

For anyone who are interested in jumbo constellation please visit this link: https://omegaforums.net/threads/sho...1-14777-14778-14395-and-14396-allowed.109416/

In this thread, I will specifically focus on omega reference 14396.

Since the last time that I reviewed my omega ref.14396 which I left the question “can my watch be one of the earliest example in this reference with the steel case?”.
Please visit and share your thoughts: https://omegaforums.net/threads/my-...4396-with-the-steel-case.160585/#post-2193943

At a later time point, I find at least two examples in ref.14396. So, the total amount will be 11 examples as shown in the pictures. Five of them used “shadow striped” pattern (or “tapestry”), while the others came with the different dial pattern.

Today I would like to share my new incoming which is reference 14396-1 SC.

It was the gold cap case with the gold hands and hour-markers.
The serial number was 16,517,8xx using caliber 505 (24 jewels).
In my opinion, the dial was original striped dial with some spots from aging.
The hour-markers were mixed between elongated rhombus and squared.
The decagonal crown should be the modern replacement crown because it is not “flat-footed.”
Caliber 505 could be correct and it looks quite clean, plus the observatory and all stars medallion on the caseback still intact.
The case was some polished but still good for the gold cap case.

The strap and buckle might be the original one, but from the later period (it seems to be correct for the watch after late 60s?)

My watch might be produced during February 1960 too, because the difference in movement number between my watch and @Banner Roar (14396 too) was less than 100.

Finally, my wrist shot:

Thank you for your comments and suggestions, especially about the strap.
Best,
Teerapat

Nice find! The hour markers on my 1961 14761 are similar.

Wow, that dial is a thing of beauty. Are we seeing the actual reflection of the second hand on the “3” index in that wrist shot? Amazing!

Just taking more close-up picture (at 3 o’clock) compared those two type of the hour-markers.

I don’t know anything about these particular watches, but I appreciate your obsession, it is commendable 👍

Man, fantastic thread again.

Don't have one yet but will keep an eye, and lastly, when are you going to start selling?

More close-up shot.
I hope you love it.😁

I believe that it’s impossible to repaint this dial without damage to the striped dial.

Thread bumping with more picture of my steel reference 14381 with the same tapestry dial pattern.

Please note that the hour markers used on both watches are identical (onyx inlaid, rectangular-shaped quarter hour-markers).😀
