My watch maker is great and I like him a lot but I can't afford him😲

He does a great job and is reasonably priced, I won't say cheap because he will read this and might adjust his pricing accordingly. So, why can't I afford him?

I go to his workshop to drop off or pick up a watch from service and whatever repairs are necessary (all good at this point). BUT THEN we will sit down for a chat and the bugger will nonchalantly open a draw full of pretty shiny things that a tragic WIS is not in any normal mental state to ignore. Obviously after milliseconds something of interest is discovered and the conversation rapidly turns to "oh, I like that. How much?".

This has happened more than once now and I know it will happen again because I like going there and I like the shiny things that he has.

This is how I now have this little gem, thank you @No Mercy
7004A with Landeron movement.

Wrist shot.

Too late for natural light shots but hopefully these will give some idea of the condition.

Stunning piece! The 5 minute countdown on the chronograph minutes recorder, was it for a specific event?

Very nice. My folks have a display case in front. I deftly avoid staring. Especially the pocket watches which tend to be very fine. I did buy an Ebel dresser for my wife on one visit.

My watchmaker only has drawers of parts. He does have watches from customers that never picked up despite calling them- but he won’t let me see those (which I totally understand- they aren’t technically his property).
That Witty is one of my grail watches- I wouldn’t have hesitated on that either. Congrats- I am green with envy.

Yeppers!

Those bugger watchmakers!

My bugger watchmaker does the same evolution with American railroad grade pocket watches [I have a weakness for those]...drives me bonkers.

Very attractive watch, I completely understand why it caught your eye. What year...1970s?

Also to help prevent further shiny pick ups in the future:

This particular derivative is mid to late 1960's, around 1969-70 they went to the Valjoux 7733 and the bezel lume pip changed slightly as well as red marking the five minute countdown.

Depending on the exact local laws, after a certain point (5 years for my watchmaker's area with attempts at contact every 6 months or so), the goods are considered abandoned and are now the property of the person who has possession. My mom got a nice Rolex that way.

Beautiful find, absolutely gorgeous bezel. Is that bezel color natural/original or aged into that perfect burgundy? 🥰

Overall reminds me of those Croton/Nivada CASD's.

Congrats and wear it in good health 👍

The bezel has aged naturally to the colour it is now. When I was doing my research I noticed that the majority have aged to a very similar colour.
