And Now For Something A Little Different...

A recent acquisition is this charming little travel alarm clock from 1922. Few now can stand the bedside ticking of an alarm clock, as cell phones are much quieter and can be programmed to wake one up more gently. But this is a lovely piece with its original leather traveling case (a coffee mug gives a sense of scale). In bronze with Champleve decoration, it is inscribed 'The Swiss Bank Corporation to its employees to commemorate its fiftieth anniversary, 1872 - 1922', thus ensuring that they would continue to get to work in a timely fashion. Roessler illustrates another example on p. 281. Any other Zenith clocks out there?

Chris,

Very nice clock, the case is in wonderful condition.

I only have one Zenith clock, and it's a basic alarm clock with a third party dial (Morath Brothers from Liverpool, who have their own story):
