Good for Alonso.
“I’ve won the Monaco Grand Prix twice, and it’s one of my ambitions to win the Triple Crown [the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500 and the Le Mans 24 Hours], which has been achieved by only one driver in the history of motorsport: Graham Hill. It’s a tough challenge, but I’m up for it. I don’t know when I’m going to race at Le Mans, but one day I intend to. I’m only 35: I’ve got plenty of time for that.”

Good for Alonso.

I agree. Alonso urgently needs some sunshine. And this is what McLaren and Honda definitely know.

It's easy to underestimate just how big an international audience F1 has.
Indy is piddling by comparison.

Indy 500 final qualifying for fast 9 is about to start, keen to see where Alonso ends up...

Obligatory Alonso pic with TAG Heuer in background for relevance 😀

5th on grid!
Immense!
I agree!

(although slightly diminished by the fact he was outqualified by Takuma Sato 😉

Poor Alonso, those Honda engines keep failing on him. He was doing well on these final laps. The audience standing ovation was well deserved.

Incredible drive to just go back at the end... I'm glad Taku won though, he's such a great bloke and his reaction was hilarious

The smile on his face says it all, and the reaction from the Japanese commentators was amazing, they were just beside themselves, you don't even need to understand Japanese to appreciate this:
