A new 1969 revival from Zenith

I wonder if they're going to go with a full revival (exact reissue) or modern interpretation. The original's case design was always a little too quirky for me, but if the proportions were adjusted it's a watch I could see myself enjoying.

And with a mat dial it seems.
I wonder what’s gonna happen to the current defy.

I must say - pretty nice!

How you all feel about the price? Seems steep to me for a time only

It is steep, but I'm sure they will have no problem selling 250 pieces.

I like the watch a lot, but I'd really like to see more pictures to judge the quality of case finish. Also, not sure about the display caseback, and I really hope they put a diver extension in the clasp like the original (probably not).

In general, Zenith is doing some really exciting stuff and look forward to their future releases.

“As Zenith mentions in its press release, a modern successor to the Defy with a sleeker case and a “whole new level of performance” will soon be unveiled (to be expected in a week, for the LVMH Watch Week 2022).”

Zenith releasing a non-revival? 😲😁

Really nice and only $7000 🙄....

.....I'm so happy I'm into vintage 😀

Wow, those divers are amazing.

I think the original Defy is a really cool watch, and I'm really glad Zenith is bringing it back. I also think that they made the right choice at limiting it to 250 pieces.

$7k for the modern version of a vintage watch that costs something like ~$1500 or so means it probably won't be for me, but it's still a cool reminder of what Zenith once was.

I personally believe that Zenith would probably find a ton of success by just slimming down some of their modern Defy designs though, maybe to 41mm. (And doing a few less skeletons)

Jokes aside, it has become almost a bit curious the contrast of a catalogue that is 1/2 (more?) revivals then otherwise “modern” designs that seem turned up to 11.

Yeah, it is interesting. I'll be watching with quite a bit of curiosity as to that new Defy line they mentioned in the press release... It seems to me that Zenith is slowly turning the ship around, and is probably laying the foundation for a completely revamped lineup of probably more elegant watches. Now, if only TAG could get their shit together and do the same as their big brother 🤦
