3861 New Style Speedmaster Bracelet Fitted on 1861 Case (Pictorial)

Sorry if this is already answered or a basic question, but I'm not well versed in all the references, models, etc. I have a reference 311.30.42.30.01.005 that I purchased in 2016. I really like the look of this newer bracelet and wondering if it will fit? I stopped by one of the Omega dealers while in Vegas this weekend and they said it wouldnt, but this thread would indicate otherwise? This is where I'm worried I'm getting the model/reference numbers confused and maybe it wouldnt work. She said the lug holes dont line up. Before I drop $850 on the bracelet I wanted to ask the basic question here to confirm. Thank you!

Yep, no problems. I have a 3861 bracelet on a late-2019 1861 watch, nice tight fit with the 1.8mm stock springbars.

Hey @hmss007, do you know what spring bars your boutique used to fit your Rising Sun bracelet to your 3861? Your end links look snug, whereas Rocketeer61’s seems to have some wiggle, but I believe you’re both using the same bracelet (the 1861 bracelet and Rising Sun bracelet appear the same to me except for their different clasps):

I just returned from my local OB and they fitted the Omega Speedmaster "Rising Sun" bracelet on my Saphire 3861 without issue. I think it looks great and it confirms that the older bracelet will fit on the newer Speedmaster - at least the one for the special edition Speedmaster with the adjustable clasp. Here are some pictures and one of them has the reference number in it. My OB ordered, sized, and fit it on my Speedy Moonwatch.

Also curious if your OB dealt with tabs like Rocketeer61 did:

My 3861 has the 4196 bracelet from my 2020 mfg. 1861. It had a Forstner band on it but after swapping the two everything fits much better. I had to remove the tabs from the 1861 bracelet's end links to get the springbars to line up with the 3861's holes but after that everything went together. It was weird-it looked like the pins should snap into the holes in the lugs but they just wouldn't. There is a bit of play between the curves in the end links and the curves in the case but nothing too serious (see pic).

Here is my Tokyo Olympic Speedmaster bracelet (same as your Rising Sun bracelet) on my vintage 145.022. Using spring bars designed for this bracelet, the end links are not flush against the case:

I really dislike the end links on my bracelet wiggling and chalked this up to putting a modern bracelet on a vintage watch—until seeing G-Web’s pics. Just curious, @G-Web , what was your process fitting the 3861 bracelet to the 145.022; do your end links have extra wiggle/give like mine? Did you just use the spring bars that came with the 3861 bracelet? Yours look like a great fit.

Omega Apollo 11 50th Anniversary stainless flat link bracelet

If your boutique Fit this to your 1861 case, They did so with a 1.5 millimeter spring bar. There is a difference between the 3861 bullet style bracelet and the Apollo 11 50th flat link bracelet end links. Not sure what it is, but it's there.

The 3861 bracelet fits the 1861 case without modification;

The A11 50th requires a different end link, a modified end link, or a smaller spring bar.

Based on your post, I purchased a new 020Z017488 bracelet for a Speedmaster from 2001 and successfully installed it. There is no gap between the end link and the case. It fits perfectly. I will soon be installing a 1479 bracelet with 812 end links on another Speedmaster, also from 2001.

I actually find that a bit unusual too. I had this romantic idea that Swiss craftsmen had assembled my strap by hand.

Exactly, I used the pins that came with it.

I always found the strap that was delivered around the year 2000 very unattractive because the protruding end links make the watch appear unnecessarily large. I also find the polished middle links a little kitschy. The matte strap has more of a tool watch look. It also looks much more delicate in real life than in photos. It is thinner and narrower than I had assumed. I am very satisfied; the watch looks much better.
