Hello,
this is going to be my first post and I am looking forward to participate in discussions and seeing wonderful Omega watches posted by users.
30 years already... wow. I still remember that day, when I was 19 and watched my second Bond movie in a cinema ever (the first one was The Living Daylights).
Goldeneye has influenced me a few years later in a some ways. First, I was still a Heavy Metal guy in 1995. Yes, I loved the movie but style wise I was more into the regular cliché what Fear Factory, Sepultura and KoRn wore back then. However, I was always into watches. Be it Casio or dress watches my parents gave me from Anker or Eterna. Later my father gave me one of his SKX007, while he upgraded to a Rolex GMT.
After high school, the choice of music was still the same but I knew things were about to change in my life, like finding a job or attending university. Back then Germany still had mandatory military service or civilian service for about a year. I chose the latter and worked in a facility taking care of handicapped people: cooking, washing, bathing, changing diapers, tending them if they had seizures and so on.
Despite the fact that I thought I bit more than I could chew, I found the job interestingly fulfilling and stayed after "serving my time" and then got a a part time job there. It was a good idea to finance my lifestlye back then when I enrolled for law school. As a "gift" to myself, I purchased the 2541.80 in 2001. Since then this watch accompanied me to proposing to my now wife, our wedding, many wonderful memories in and outside our country, funerals, birthdays, our kid's birth... it will always be "THE ONE" watch, no matter what other Omega I might purchase in the future.
Of course, I kept following and watching the Bond movies and was a bit sad, that Craig dropped the now "neo-vintage" Seamaster, but I also liked the newer models which were introduced with/by him.
Sorry for that long post...
