Thanks @Hubert , you're very kind! 😅 The only Connected I've ever had experience with is the E2 Modular 45, my favourite of the five generations so far, but I'm eager to see more details on the E5.

At least, for iPhone and E2 Modular users like me, the E5 has the advantage (over E3 and E4) that, since it runs a different operating system than Wear OS, it should be possible to pair it with an iPhone in addition to the E2 Modular (or in addition to E1, E3, E4). So the E5 could be a complement to one of the four previous Connected generations, not a replacement. It will be interesting to confirm this possibility, of being able -for the first time- to have two TAG Heuer Connected paired to the same iPhone.

Hello!!!

Well, Albert, I've been using this option of having two watches connected to my iPhone for a while now: one with Wear OS and the other with Aerlink. With the latter app, you can receive notifications and add some additional functions with music and the camera.🤪

I also want to see that new E5... and its new spheres.

Im confused. The e5 45mm looks identical to the e4. I think this is a total missed opportunity. I don’t understand what features the e5 has over and beyond the e4 (yes it can take phone calls but can it respond to txts?) The health features on the e4 were fine, not really sure what is different here. Also what happened to the trade in promise. When i bought the watch they said they will do 750$ trade in when the new one comes out. A few months ago this dropped to 500$. Now I don’t see it at all on the website.

Too bad i really wanted to get this watch but with zero design changes from the e4 ill pass

I'm totally disappointed: They really developped their own OS. According helpdesk this mean NO 3rd party-apps. No Google Maps, no calendar and so on. Really? What a strange decision for a traditional watch crafter to now spend millions in the develpment that in the end makes the TH just an expensive version of Garmin.
Sad....

There are some small changes. But actually not to the watches benefit. A hole for microphone, a speaker and as well the strap connection is different. Could have lived with this but no Google APPs support... that's the dealbreaker..

This right here. You changed everything about how the watch works. Ok that's fine. But now you take away the trade in that's been a thing since the beginning? These can sit in the Chinese warehouse.

Was looking forward to the E5… not so sure now?

Does anyone know if it shows notifications ?

Does it support phone music controls ? (which is pretty essential if using it during sport activities)

Has the digital timekeeper face gone ?

Thanks

They developed their own OS, because Google's Wear OS doesn't support iPhones anymore, so their option was a great smartwatch only for Android phones or a bad smartwatch for both Android and iPhone. Naturally they opted for the latter. Thankfully for Android users, like myself, I can still enjoy my E4 with relatively OK smartwatch capabilities, like Maps, payment support, music controls, rich notification system. And save a couple of grand.

And, actually, one could say its worse than an expensive Garmin. At least with Garmin you have literally hundreds of watch faces to chose from.

Having said that, I have to admit that I'm quite jealous that the E5 brought back the completely closed straps that fit snugly between the lugs and the body from the E1 and E2, in comparison to the loose strap connections of the E3 and E4. Not enough to make me want to lose payment support or Maps etc, but still. The E5 is around 5 - 10% nicer looking thanks to the straighter lugs and tight straps.

I was told $210 this past weekend from my contact at my local boutique and I just texted him to confirm. If he says anything different I'll let you know but they have told me twice. I think the trade-in value is a joke.

Just read a review saying that they thought Tag were right to develop their own OS as it makes everything faster. No consideration that that might be due to the new Snapdragon CPU? It's a near certainty that this is built on AOSP, so they've basically cut the Play store and Google proprietary stuff just to gain an Apple logo that means very little.

Yes but the decision to make an own OS could mean that we can forget about updates for E4... Again. Already before the update philosophy of TH was rediculous for a luxury watch. Every cheap samrtwatch gets more updates. Still stuck on security update from 1st of April 2024, in word twothousandtewntyfour!!
