Any bets on driver changes during the season?

Much as I hate to say it, I have a feeling Doohan -> Colapinto by the start of the European leg could happen if Doohan even does an ok job rather than setting timing sheets alight. Flavio isn’t afraid of any blowback from a driver changes as he’s proved in years past.

Any thoughts on which team team will win the Constructor's Championship? Do you think Lawson will provide the points to get Red Bull back to the top spot again?

With how last season wrapped up...it really could be McLaren, Red Bull, or Ferrari.
I am really curious to see how Ferraris season shapes up. And like you mentioned, see how Lawson does....

Lawson definitely has some serious talent but I have the feeling that Max really desires a car developed and set up on such a knife edge that it’s almost impossible to drive for any of his teammates, and that looks to have only increased as Red Bull’s edge has vanished and forced them to search for more performance. I hope he’s able to succeed but that seat is such a poison chalice, and oddly I think Danny Ric may have been the only driver that would have worked in it given how similarly he liked the car set up to Max.

I hope Newey is able to bring Aston back into contention for Fernando’s sake but they’ll obviously not be a serious competitor in the constructors given their number two driver is a boat-anchor.

For me the most interesting storyline will be Lewis and his transition. Apparently, Ferrari have moved the seat further back to conform to his driving style. I'm curious to see if that along with a change in scenery reignites the fire. I'm still rooting for him despite Carlos getting the raw end of the stick.

The second driver I will be rooting for is Carlos, I truly hope he can make a difference with Williams. He's a capable driver when given the chance and Vowles seems to have the team going in the right direction. Progress will be slow, just hope it doesn't submarine his career.

All teams launching at once this year on the 18th (next Tuesday)

"What is confirmed is the special season launch event at The O2 in London on February 18 will see all 10 teams, all 20 drivers and a full arena of fans showcase each team’s liveries for the F1 2025 season.

It’s likely, though, that these liveries will be placed on show cars or 2024 cars, as opposed to revealing their actual F1 2025 challengers."

So, just the warpaint, not the weapons.

This year is shaping up to be a good one.

IMO, the team pecking order will probably be McLaren > Ferrari > Red Bull > Mercedes again. I'd guess maybe Ferrari could move above McLaren and Mercedes could move above Red Bull but it's entirely down to how each team develops their 2025 car. It's hard to know though, Red Bull looked incredibly dominant going into 2024 and look how that turned out for them, they've been on a downward slope with their brain drain lately.

In terms of the McLaren drivers, Lando easily has the measure of Oscar, unfortunately. I also think Lando will have learned a lot from his fuckups last year and will probably finally be ready to mount a WDC challenge this year if the team delivers the car again. Oscar is too far behind to be a real contender, imo. I'll barrack for him anyway because he's an Aussie and Lando is a dickhead, but realistically, his results haven't been where they need to be.

Ferrari is really interesting. Charles will obviously be strong, Lewis is an unknown. On the one hand, he's obviously one of the best drivers to ever do it, and I do think the new team and car will re-energise him and we'll see better form than when he was miserable in Mercedes. On the other hand, he's definitely past the age peak, and the question is how far down the other side is he, and how much does he have left to mount another title fight. Winning his owed 8th title in his first year in red would be the biggest fairy tale the sport has ever seen, so that's what I'm hoping for. But I wouldn't bet on it, and if he doesn't do it this year the odds will get worse every subsequent year.

Red Bull is obvious. Max is the best driver on the grid currently, Lawson is a rookie who did okay but didn't blow anyone away in the VCARB last year. Liam will be lucky not to be mentally destroyed by Max next year. If he can consistently place the car one spot behind Max, he'll be doing very well. I still think Red Bull were moronic for not trying to sign Sainz and it will cost them this year.

Mercedes, I dunno really. I don't know anything about their new rookie. George is very good so I expect an easy win over a rookie, but that's about all I can say on that one.

As for the rest, Aston will continue to cruise at the front of the Formula 1.5 pack without being taken seriously by the front runners. Williams should move up, they've been showing a lot of promise and Carlos is a great number one driver for them to have scored. And frankly I don't give a damn about the rest of them.

The only thing I'm slightly interested in seeing from this is a possibly darker red Ferrari. Shame Ferrari has that ugly blue HP logo clashing from every angle. Money well spent by HP though, I suppose. Any press is good press, and all that.

One thing is abundantly clear, every other comment from the pundits will be about Hamilton, 'Lewis this, Lewis that', it will get boring and annoying by the end of the first race in Melbourne. But that is where we are. If Hamilton can pull off a credible performance in his first year with Ferrari at age 40 it will be remarkable because this is a young man's game and there are plenty of hungry drivers looking for glory.

Obviously Kimi will be attacked by a Drop Bear in Bottas’s adoptive home country down under, and will be unable to race due to a raging Chlamydia eye infection that will last the rest of the season which will allow Bottas to take the drivers championship without being in the first few races.

He will of course strip down to a budgie smuggler to accept the drivers championship trophy.

All will then be right with the world, world peace will be achieved and the world will come together to remove all of the worlds ills.

In thanks the world scientists will genetically engineer a Unicorn that Valterie will ride to the grid for every race before he enters his car.

Verstappen minus Newey = mid-pack
Hamilton + Ferrari = mid-pack
Lando + McLaren for the win.

With four maybe five cars very close in performance -->> Team Orders = Win.

Norris/Piastri need a clear leader or they will take wins off each other.
Hamilton/LeClerc need a clear leader or they will take wins off each other.
Red Bull have very clear pecking order but the car....?
Mercedes probably have Team Orders, but the car....?

I would love to see Alonso take a couple more Championships but he desperately needs a wingman.

I live in geegee racing country with a betting shop on every street and ten on the High Street (really!), maybe I'll go round them and place my money on

Hamilton.
