Hi, This is my first time posting as my 1985 Heuer is finally in need of some serious attention.
After 40 years it has started running very fast. I've replaced the battery and done a basic service but I fear I need a new movement.
Having been reading the threads here, I am not sure which movement this watch needs.
The options seem to be: eta 955.112 or 955.114 or the newer eta F06.111.
Which would be the best fit for this watch, 980-013L?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Mark
What is in there at the moment, a 963.114 ?
It sounds like a circuit or coil problem with the existing movement.

The earlier L case variant is a thicker case than the later N type which used the 955.112/114.
I'm not sure any of those are a straight swap due to the movement thickness. From memory a 963.114 is just shy of 5mm thickness while a 955.112 is 2.5mm. As a result you would run into stem height issues and possibly other issues such as dial feet position too.

I own a Heuer 980.031L, from around the same year '85 or '86. Mine has the 963.114 movement, yours probably does too.

Actually, I don't know which movement is in there as my watch guy does the servicing. I'll ask him. Thanks for the feedback 馃榾

Yup, as far as I know all L cases used the 963.114.
The listed replacement is an ISA 1198.32 but that has different hands sizes and also a 0.3mm difference in stem height.

Unlike the even earlier thick cases without the letter suffix you can't just drop an ETA 2824 into an L case either.

If you haven't already, make sure all the screws/contact points attaching the circuit board and coil are tight and clean.

Aside from that, my inclination would be to swap the circuit on your existing movement, I strongly suspect that will cure the problem.
N. O. S circuits are available from Globalwatchstraps in the Netherlands on Ebay. Not too expensive.
