Thanks guys! Any thoughts on the waffle pattern? And any estimate of value, given that the movement is worn down (as per watchmaker's initial quick examination)? And is it worth it for me to have i lubricated just to keep it from getting worse? 300 bucks for a COA seems a lot when some parts need replacing anyway. I have no intention of selling this heirloom btw, just curious! Thanks again!

Textured dial is a plus in terms of desirability and value. I assume it is a cal. 354 bumper movement based on the serial you provided in a snapback case with an original textured dial in nice shape. I would say $600-900 with the higher end for a watch properly serviced. The most valuable piece here is the dial - nice, original and uncommon.

Nice looking cal. 354 movement as I suspected. Try to get a full servicing for $200 plus parts - that would be a bit closer to the norm. Members here would be more than happy to recommend watchmakers (Calling Dennis and others). My local guy unfortunately strictly does only local work.

Thx, I'm in Atlanta! Got Richard Schauer's name recommended off of a forum, but he's at Watch Repair Etc. in Redmond, WA and I'd rather not ship the watch, if possible.

BTW, wherever you have it serviced, I would only have the movement serviced but would personally leave everything else untouched - no reluming or refinishing of the case and certainly keep the dial the same. That's just me - others here like the case polished and nice lume but the purist in me says leave well enough alone.

Totally agree, have the movement serviced only.

Looks like it needs some oil, adjustment and nothing else.

K thanks. I actually went in to Womble Watch works yesterday off of good recomendations on forums, but I could only speak with an attendant in the small showroom they have. She wasn't very helpful. The watchmaker(s) work in back I guess. She said it was $20 for an estimate and that I was looking at $400, best case scenario. The place wasn't at all what I suspected from the reports of a Mr. Womble the friendly neighborhood watchmaker. I'm sure he's a great guy, but I only got to speak with the salesperson and got the impression I had to pay for any helpful advice.

Jesse is a whiz with these. He's a member here - omega564. Start a conversation with him, or e-mail him at [email protected] and ask him about servicing it. He's done quite a few watches for us here.
