This popped up in my local FB marketplace…. Guy wants $2k, which is nuts, but I’d be curious as to what experts think. No movement shots…. Enamel dial. Thanks….

The enamel dial plus yellowed cellulose acetate crystal point to a pre-1930s watch. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but having owned a couple trench watches this one fits the bill.

There's an old thread on SCWF about early Seikos which reproduces some images from a Japanese collector's magazine that shows this watch as "Type 8" of 1927 onward (if I understand correctly). Should be a pretty small case if it is indeed a 19.5mm movement. Images not mine, so take with the usual grain of salt!

Edit: price is preposterous, but it would be great fun to have one of these!

Wow, that's amazing. These don't come up often enough to have a discernable market price, so pay what it's worth to you. Being a Seiko, there will always be collectors interested in it.

Ahh no way. My collection is in bad need of a haircut. Don’t need another old bird to maintain. Just posted it because it’s interesting.
