1450 Bracelet Speedys Splitting

I've seen half a dozen of these recently, people are buying up 1980s Speedmaster Pros with the sought after and possibly excessively over-hyped 1450 bracelet, then listing the 1450 for sale around the $700-1200 range, and listing the watch head only or on a strap around $1,600-2,000 often after buying the whole package for under $2k.

Much as I do like the idea of a solid link version of the 1171 bracelet, $950 is a LOT of money for an old watch bracelet.

At $700-1200 it certainly is overhyped. As nice as it is, no bracelet is worth that much.

IWC's is - the one that came on the Mark XV and XVI. So is Breitling's Pilots bracelet. I despise most bracelets and they're two I'd wear any time.

Maybe I should put my 1450 in a drawer for 15 years & sell it for a bundle when I retire 💰

It's not hugely different in feel from an 1170 or 1171. It's light & comfy - just not as light (and flimsy feeling) as the 1171.

Count that as $1000 I just saved you 😜

I will have to agree with Ulack, the Breitling Pilot bracelet on my Chronomat is indeed a very comfortable and robust band. No IWC's ($$) so don't know about them. The bracelet on my Soccer Timer (1150?) was good but not as good as the Breitling Pilot.

Sure, any time you wish! 😉😜 The reason I can't stand most bracelets is I've tried so many. The Rolex Jubilee was sort of comfortable even though it felt a bit light & chintzy. That was probably my 3rd favorite (favorite being used VERY loosely because I really didn't like it all that much) and I doubt I'd own one again. As much as everyone raves about mesh I've never tried one on from any brand that fit me properly. I do still have my Watchadoo for my next Monster. That was decent for the money ($40-ish) and a good beater. Never met another bracelet I found remotely comfortable or attractive enough to bother with despite owning modern and vintage ones from Movado, Bulova, Longines, Omega, Speidel, JB Champion, etc, etc.

I agree with you - It's hard to find a steel bracelet I really like. I want to and have tried but they're never as good on the wrist as you hope. I hate the Rolex bracelets. I like the look of the original 60's Omega Speedmaster/ Seamaster 300 bracelets on the watches, but they are a bit flimsy on the wrist. The 1450 is much better. I end up wearing Subs and Speedies on Nato straps as they kind of suit the tool watch look and are comfortable (and safe.)
The one bracelet I really do like is the genuine Omega 'shark' mesh on my Ploprof 600, very comfortable and balances the weight of the head nicely.
